i've seen pictures of this little ring a few separate times and i can never seem to get it quite out of my head (even though i've so far had the willpower to resist purchasing it) - i think because it's just that adorable. or is it because it's a forget me knot ring?
it's officially cold, and the leggings are therefore officially out all around my office. only they've changed a little bit this year - they have stirrups now. i know i should think this is ugly, but of course i love it. it seems to actually kind of make sense - they won't creep up, they cover your entire ankle (less exposed skin = warmer happier legging-wearers), and you get a bit more equestrian in your wardrobe, which us anglophiles just love.
here is a semi-awful picture of my arrangement from saturday. the flowers were hanging out in the fridge waiting to be picked up:
hopefully someone with more photography skills will send along other pictures soon.
in the meantime, i wanted to share a great hydrangea trick that i tried out on these flowers. hydrangeas can be kind of fussy once they're in an arrangement - they require a lot of water and can wilt pretty quickly. it helps if you remove all the foliage (sort of sad, because i happen to think hydrangea leaves are some of the nicest!) then cut the stems, and plunge them into boiling water for 10 seconds. finally, move the hydrangeas into cool water that has been mixed with floral conditioner. not sure if it always works, but these hydrangeas really seemed to like it! i still have some of the cuttings at home and they look amazingly fresh for their age.
i'm not sure how it happened, but i actually am making a floral arrangement for an event tomorrow. it's the new york junior league fall house tour. an arrangement is put in every house on the tour - my little flowers will be showing themselves off at 73 worth street. wish them luck! :)
i think i am the last person in new york to discover psycho bunny. psycho bunny designs accessories and men's polos, all of which appear totally normal until you realize they have been customized with some version of a crazy little bunny skull and crossbones. it's hilarious. my favorite pieces are the ones with the most subtle bunny presence. like this orange sailboat tie, which actually requires zooming in to see that the symbol on the left boat sail is in fact a psycho bunny.
i also like this aviator badge tie, with psycho bunny sporting funny vintage aviator wings.
hopefully the women's accessories will show up soon :)
this weekend i went to new haven to visit my friend sarah (hi sarah!!) we had the best day - the weather was super nice and the foliage was changing (and of course i did not have my camera). we went to the yummiest place for lunch, called claire's corner copia. the restaurant is vegetarian, organic, AND kosher (they made me throw out my tava, which apparently is not sanctioned by the rabbis).
it was SO good. i am sitting here typing and asking erich when i can go back to new haven just so that i can have another piece of the blueberry chocolate chip cake. yum.
this weekend i took erich shopping. we were very productive - we got him two sport coats, and i got a pair of jeans. because sport coats are kind of bring, here are the jeans:
they are by j brand. i'm not sure what i think about them yet. i watched a video on shopbop about how j brand should fit, and the video narrator described them as "denim leggings". well, they do fit like that... now i'm just not sure i want denim leggings (especially after the giant dinner we had on saturday night). supposedly they will stretch. we shall see.
i think i need to sleep in them for a night to see if they loosen up.
