here is a semi-awful picture of my arrangement from saturday. the flowers were hanging out in the fridge waiting to be picked up:
hopefully someone with more photography skills will send along other pictures soon.
in the meantime, i wanted to share a great hydrangea trick that i tried out on these flowers. hydrangeas can be kind of fussy once they're in an arrangement - they require a lot of water and can wilt pretty quickly. it helps if you remove all the foliage (sort of sad, because i happen to think hydrangea leaves are some of the nicest!) then cut the stems, and plunge them into boiling water for 10 seconds. finally, move the hydrangeas into cool water that has been mixed with floral conditioner. not sure if it always works, but these hydrangeas really seemed to like it! i still have some of the cuttings at home and they look amazingly fresh for their age.
